From the Manufacturer Kotap poly tarps have been sold for more than 30 years. Kotap tarps are made of woven and coated polyethylene that is tear and UV resistant. They are also mold and mildew resistant and will not rot nor shrink. Product Description Kotap Mesh Tarps are made from heavy-duty open mesh weave fabric (6.5-Ounceper square yard). This is breathable mesh material, however will cut down on sun and wind. Woven plastic reinforcement is double sewn into the hem and corners to prevent the solid-brass grommets from ripping out. Kotap mesh tarps are appropriate for patio/garden/landscape applications to cut down on sun. They also are used to secure and cover pickup beds, dump trucks, and dumpster roll-off containers.

Poor Quality Very disappointed with the quality and shade % of the mesh material. The grommets & outside border stitching seems to be ok, but time will tell. It appears this Kotap 8-ft x 10-ft Heavy-Duty 6.5 Oz Black was made from discounted defect material from the Mfg. I bought this shade to protect my boat on a dock. See pics of poor mesh quality. You can clearly see what appears to be seams where the material was “sewn” together every couple feet or so. The seams are also messy and have…

Good for camping, 2 uses A great use for this type of tarp (open mesh) is as a protective layer between your tent and the ground. Not only is it quite thick so that it protects your tent floor from punctures but it gets rid of the problem of water getting trapped under between your tent and a typical closed mesh tarp (letting the ground absorb water), either from rain or from condensation. Don’t use a single layer if the ground is especially rocky or has a gravel surface because the sharp points will work their way…
